"Yes, I suppose we're unique," laughs Jane Letson. "But we are avid skiers and we really fell in love with the area!" The Letson's live in Minnesota, but will be spending a good portion of their winters in their new town home. "We had heard about Big White and planned a skiing trip there in March. We had looked at property on the hill, but we wanted something that would offer us recreational opportunities year round. We drove up to Gallagher's, looked around, and really liked what we saw. The Fairway 17 homes were perfect for us." The Letson's were so impressed, they went home, did a little more research and made the decision then and there. "We're not normally like this," Jane says. "We're not nearly this impulsive. But we really loved the community and the area. We liked the location, the fact that the Village at Gallagher's Canyon is close to all the amenities, the Lake and all the recreational activities that this area provides. Russ is in real estate, so we're not an easy sell. But this was an easy decision for us. It just felt right" Something else that came easy for the Letsons was the construction of their new home. "We really put our faith in the sales people and the construction crew. When we first visited Gallagher's, the road had just been put in and there were no homes at Fairway 17. We were in Minnesota when we decided to buy and we just trusted that it would come out the way we wanted. I'd make a call to the sale person and let him know what I wanted changed on the plan. When we came to take possession, we didn't know what to expect." And the Letson's reaction to the finished product? "We were absolutely thrilled! It exceeded our expectations. I was really delighted and amazed at how nice it was. The little architectural details were very impressive." David and Sharon Tkachuk have also found Fairway 17 provided a home that matched their lifestyle very well. "This is my Hawaii!" said David. "We'll spend our winters in Saskatchewan and come out to Kelowna for the summers." The fact that The Village at Gallagher's Canyon offered something like Fairway 17 came as a very pleasant surprise to the Tkachuks. "We've been coming to Kelowna for 30 years now. We have relatives here and we decided we needed our own home. But we didn't want anything too large. We started looking at condos and just happened to pop into Gallagher's. I mentioned to the sales person that it was too bad that they didn't have town homes in the price range we were looking in, because we had been here on a tour the year before and really liked the community. He told us about Fairway 17, which was just being started. It sounded perfect for us." The Tkachuks already have their first full summer at Gallagher's mapped out. "We're pretty active, social people. We'll be staying very busy. We keep our boat up here so we'll be on that a lot. I'm a golfer and have always enjoyed golfing at Gallagher's. And we plan to visit many of the local wineries." Like the Letson's, the Tkachuks are also skiers. "We'll be spending some time up on the hill in the winter. For us, this is an all season getaway."
Jim and Helen Cote are other residents who really appreciate the freedom that purchasing at Fairway 17 has given them. "The size was just right for us. We didn't want anything too big. Our home is easy to look after, yet still large enough for when family comes to visit." Jim and Helen spend their winters in Palm Springs, so they wanted a home that was maintenance free. "This was just what we were looking for. We like the area, we like the home and we like the location." Fairway 17 offers a lifestyle that allows its residents to enjoy all the Okanagan has to offer and gives them the freedom to travel without worrying about security and home maintenance.. For many home owners, it's a perfect seasonal home.
