"It's a very much a community feel here. People are so friendly and you can pursue so many interests. There's always people who share your interests. And they're so interesting because everyone here comes from so many areas. You're always learning." The
gardening club is a good example of how Being gifted with a green thumb, Erica appreciates Gallagher's concern for preserving green spaces. "We had lived on a orchard on Rose Road in East Kelowna. I'm very comfortable with the area. We like the way the homes were developed with the green spaces. We very much liked the setting. It was absolutely beautiful!" And even though neither Erica or her husband Jerry golf, they do like living in a golf course community. "We really enjoy being close to the course. It's beautifully landscaped. And besides, there's so much to do over and above golf here." For
another couple at Gallagher's, golfing is very much part of their
regular routine. Joanne Like Erica and Jerry, Joanne and Jamie have a very business activity calendar. "I'm involved in aquafit. I'm in the pool all the time. I'm also involved in bridge. We participate in all the fun golf tournaments. We go on the summer houseboat cruises. I've taken a ceramics and crafts course. I'm also in the Women's Investment Group. And we've gone to many of the seminars. Nikki does a great job getting interesting speakers." Summers are also a busy time for Joanne and Jamie thanks to several friends who love to visit the Okanagan. "Everyone wants to come visit us. Nobody ever turns down an invitation to spend some time here at Gallagher's". Another thing that Joanne and Jamie liked about The Village at Gallagher's Canyon is the mix of residents you find there. "We have a young family next door and we really like that. It's not a retirement community, even though there's lots of retired people here. You find quite a mixed crowd here" Although there's a wide assortment of activities to choose from, Joanne found the real glue that holds the community together is a spirit of caring. "Before I had moved here, I had wanted to do a quilt for the local cancer lodge. I happened to mention it to someone here and asked if anyone else might be interested. Before I knew it, we had 25 ladies involved and had a wonderful Teddy Bear quilt, which we donated to the local lodge. And during my recent surgery, we had dozens of people who volunteered to help us. The support you receive here is fabulous. It's a real sense of community." "You know, I think they should hire me as a salesperson for Gallagher's," Joanne grins. "But then, I think anyone who lives here would make a great salesperson!"
